While trolling the Scrapbook.com challenges…

While trolling the Scrapbook.com challenges forum, I found this very cool blog that I think will help spur my creative energies.  It’s called 52 Sketches…52 Weeks by Lisa Bonner.

Every Sunday, Lisa posts a new sketch for a layout. You have one week to complete an entry and submit it to her. It must be received or posted by midnight the following Sunday (eastern time). All layouts go into her gallery and she will randomly draw one name from all who have submitted. The winner will receive a prize and their work will be shown on Monday night’s post.

I’m submitting this layout of my cat Kramer based on Week #9’s sketch:

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper: (Hang 10) Basic Grey; Stickers: 7gypsies; Brads: Making Memories; Dies: (Vixen) Quickutz; Stamp: (paw prints) Kathy Davis Collection ; Ink: (Close to Cocoa) Stampin’ Up!

I’m really excited about this challenge.  Not sure if I will submit something weekly, but I’ll be checking it out frequently for a dose of inspiration.  Kudos to Lisa for setting this up!

I [heart] iPod

I did a lot of stamping and scrapbooking today.  Should we call it "scramping?"

Continuing the iPod/Apple theme as of late, this layout is an ode to my iPod.  I was one of the early purchasers of the iPod when it was 5 gigs and a thick brick.  I used it off and on and never filled it up.  Then my husband bought a 30 gig video one for me for my birthday.  I took it on our honeymoon and put some movies and TV shows on it for our trip to Italy.  (My husband already had a 30 gig iPod but used it mostly for music).

I think the iPod is a great invention.  I use it when I’m scrapbooking.  I use it in the car.  I even used it during my lunch hour at work to watch TV shows.  I love this thing!

Cardstock: Bazill Basics; Patterned paper: KI Memories, Crate Paper; Ribbon: American Crafts; Brad: All My Memories; Eyelet: We R Memory Keepers; Rub-ons: Making Memories; Dies: (heart) Quickutz; Stamps (flower, parentheses, arrow) Autumn Leaves, (stitches) Technique Tuesday, (journaling lines) Rusty Pickle; Ink: Close to My Heart, Stampin’ Up!; Sketch: Page|Maps

NYCNY

It’s been a busy end of February.  I went to NYC to see a show and quit my job.  Strange things happen in Leap Year.  Anyway, here are some highlights from my trip.

My friend Adrena (producer, "Robert Smalls: A Patriot’s Journey"–check it out!) is an anti-Apple person.  She’s Windows all the way.  So it came as a surprise to me when she said, "When we get to New York, I want to go to the 24-hour Apple Store."

Me:  Mac store is cool with me. Are you converting?
Adrena: iPod will be my only foray…
Me: That’s how it begins…

Needless to say, I think she was impressed.  Of course–it’s Apple!  (Can you tell I’m a fan?)

Cardstock and chipboard: (apple–my design) Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper: Crate Paper; Dies: (Paige, Stilleto letters, tab) Quickutz

Adrena and I also went to see a revival of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" directed by Debbie Allen and staring Anika Noni Rose ("Dreamgirls"), Terrence Howard ("Hustle and Flow"), James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad.  One of our friends, Nichelle (blogger of "55 Secret Street–check it out!) stayed after and was able to get pix of Anika and Terrence outside the theater.

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper: Close to My Heart; Dies: (Vixen) Quickutz; Chipboard letters: Creative Imaginations Creative Cafe; Trim: Basic Grey; Journaling stamp: Rusty Pickle; Ink: Stampin’ Up
